India to Ashes: Root Revels in Cricket’s Biggest Summer

Joe Root Calls It the 'Most Fun' Period of His Career Ahead of India Test Series! 🇬🇧🇮🇳

As England gear up for a blockbuster home Test series against India, star batter Joe Root says he’s enjoying the “most fun” phase of his career.

The 34-year-old maestro is set for a packed six months in Test whites — starting with the India series at Headingley this Friday and followed by an Ashes tour Down Under.

Since stepping down as captain in 2022, Root has been unstoppable — scoring 3,117 runs at an average of 56.67 in 36 Tests, more than any other England batter in that time.

"It’s the most fun time of my career. The environment Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum have built is fantastic,” Root told Sky Sports.

While the Ashes later this year is grabbing headlines, Root insists the focus is firmly on the immediate challenge against a strong India side under new skipper Shubman Gill.

"India have a brilliant seam attack, world-class batters, and a strong spin unit. It’ll be a tough, exciting series,” Root added.

Can India break their England curse and win their first Test series here since 2007? Or will England’s fortress at home hold firm?

Stay tuned for the big clash this Friday at Headingley!
